Interesting piece sent to me on FB from Jonathan Slade. Read it here.
As the writer of this piece says:
“To address many of society’s most vexing problems, it will take more than an ability to recite information. It will take an appreciation for complexity, an active imagination, perseverance, inquisitiveness, an ability to grapple with difficult subjects, and an ability to think critically and divergently.”
How can we work to assure that our students are equipped to deal with complexity in all kinds of ways and areas? Is there something you can do in your class this semester (or already doing?) to shift the emphasis to help our students work within these greater themes? Post your thoughts here.
