On October 1, a few of us gathered to discuss the article posted below on the blog by Baines and Zimmerman (read the article here, too.). It was an fruitful hour of thinking about classes, our students, and how good teaching can be evaluated. We discussed how students perceive the evaluation of teaching, versus the our view. The discussion also turned to engagement – engaging students in the classroom and to learning.
I hope to offer more opportunities to discuss how to engage our students. I am chronicling my own experiences this semester on this Blog. If you have ideas, share them here by leaving a comment – or leave a comment about this article if you were not able to attend on October 1.
There will be an opportunity to come together to discuss another article on November 5 – Thursday, 9 AM. I’ll post more information and the article to be discussed here later.
